How do you know what your Midterm Grade is?

I am calculating your midterm grades by adding up your grades in the following columns from Moodle:

1. Essay 1 Rough Draft –

(50 pts. for the peer review + 50 pts. for your Rough Draft = 100 pts.)

2. Essay 1 Final Draft – (100 pts.)

3. Essay 2 Rough Draft –

(50 pts. for the peer review + 50 pts. for your Rough Draft = 100 pts.)

4. Essay 2 Final Draft – (100 pts.)

5. Midterm Examination – (100 pts.)

TOTAL – 500 pts.

Take your point total out of 500 and divide it by 5 to equal your midterm grade as I will record it via MyClaflin on Wednesday, March 13.

Midterm Examination

Using the reading of Scott McCloud’s Understanding Comics Ch. 1, I want you to write a 3-5 paragraph (using a blue book), summary and analysis of reading.

You need to:

  1. Make sure you have 3-5 paragraphs

  2. Provide a summary of the reading, including at least 1 quotation

  3. Provide an analysis of the reading, including at least 1 quotation – you can choose to focus on whatever you want to in terms of analysis, but this should go beyond a simple summary.

  4. Finally, evaluate the reading based on how well you think McCloud has or has not convinced you that there is more to comics than you might have previously thought.
